Then it was laid down in a few carefully selected first-fill Moscatel wine casks – rarely used at Ardbeg – and stowed safely away. Over the course of its long maturation, Cask No. 4831 caught the attention of Dr Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg’s Director of Whisky Creation. Intrigued by the flavours the wood had brought to Ardbeg’s signature smoke – he set this experimental cask aside. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter 15 years of ageing, Dr Bill knew Cask No. 4831 had reached its peak.
